The recognition of the close link between the financing for development process and progress in attaining development goals and objectives agreed upon at the major United Nations conferences and summits culminated in the adoption of the 2005 World Summit Outcome, in which Member States reaffirmed the universal commitment to the global partnership for development set out in the Millennium Declaration, the Monterrey Consensus and the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation(resolution 60/1, para. 21).
