By elucidating the slow dynamics of body representation in the brain and developing techniques that can be used to intervene in those dynamics, we will work toward developing innovative model-based rehabilitative techniques that permit predictions of prognosis.
Miyake: Dancing work has been done with Pina Bausch and Philippe Duquefre so far, but the so-called dance work involves choreography and music, or vice versa. There are many cases, but in any case, body expression itself is often the leading role.
In this new work, objects are arranged three-dimensionally in real space through a tracking technology and drone control system, and the work, in which dancers give performances, has been presented so as to find the possibility of a new bodily expression.
For this tour, we had produced a Japanese-Russian bilingual pamphlet entitled"Tatsumi Hijikata's Butoh--The expression of artistic philosophy and the philosophy of physical expression," which was printed in Moscow and distributed to interested parties during the tour.
He has been exploring"expression that starts from the body" that goes beyond"physical expression" as a genre in his performances that transform Khoomei and heartbeat into sound and light or amplify the vibration of the skull with bone conduction microphones, a video installation The Voice-over, and the direction of a performing arts piece Black Hair Ballad.
White Asparagus, experienced in circus performance, street performance and dance, will don colorful costumes by Kodue Hibino of fish, jellyfish, sea anemone, seaweed and more while performing acrobatic bodily expression and juggling in a vibrantly portrayed undersea world of magic, backed by music from Kohske Kawase for an even more brilliant display of color.
Research group B03(corresponding to B01 and B02) will focus on systems engineering approaches. This includes mathematical modeling of the slow dynamics of body representation in the brain with the incorporation of knowledge of brain science and rehabilitation medicine, model construction by using data mining or a system identification methodology, and model verification experiments on cognitive or sensorimotor association.
Lectures, Workshops, and Exhibitions Concerning Art In an effort to enhance artistic and cultural sensitivities, KUAC's events are distinguished by a sense of diversity and progressiveness. These include lectures accompanied by performances, cross-disciplinary symposia, joint presentations by poets and artists from various genres, workshops that explore expressions of the body, and exhibitions that include works of installation.
This exhibition categorizes the attractions of Renoir's artwork into four areas,"the journey to Renoir, expressions of the body, flowers and decorative painting, and fashion and the Rococo tradition", and is designed to look for the attractions of Renoir's paintings from a refreshing perspective of art history through approximately 80 of his workpieces including some masterpieces, while introducing the latest knowledge of the techniques used by the painter Renoir based on the optical survey conducted for this exhibition.
