The natural world of Japan so keenly observed by the princess is depicted on a six-paneled folding screen in the style of natural history paintings(hakubutsuga) of the Edo Period.
The Japanese painters had drawn or painted the beauties of nature in the Japanese style. Siebold taught them the western painting technique which resulted in the emergence of modern natural paintings.
Keeping in mind connection with nearby Kashiwanoha Park, which is maintained by the Chiba Prefectural Government, and Konbukuro Pond Nature Museum Park, which is a satoyama(literally, sato is Japanese for arable and livable land or homeland and yama is Japanese for mountain), and seeking to be conscious of and learn about the neighborhood's diverse natural riparian ecosystems, this biotope is comprised of only plant species that can be found in the neighborhood.
