In the sixth century, when the city expanded and the walls were built, the old cemetery was abandoned and a new was planted in Birgi, where they were pratCcate both cremation and burial.
The area of the former cemetery is mainly devoted to pastoral applications and will have a visitation schedule for which will be assisted by interns of the Art history degrees(UV) and Conservation and restoration of cultural property UPV.
The street starts from the left bank of the river Darro, at the end of the Paseo del Padre Manjón, popularly called the«Paseo de los Tristes», which means Sad People's Avenue, because it was part of the road that the funeral processions took to the old cemetery.
