The students then visited Sendai, where they learned about Japanese culture and home customs through school exchanges and homestays, and developed friendships with local high school students and their host families.

Under the school exchange programme, they studied Japanese culture through the tea ceremony and calligraphy, and had a joint training session with Kendo, Judo and Karate clubs.
During the school exchange program at Tokushima University, they received an explanation of the history and different kinds of kimono, and tried putting on kimono together with Japanese university students to grow closer with each other.
Moreover, through the school exchange and homestay programs, they actively learned about Japanese culture and Japanese lifestyle and deepened their bonds with Japanese students of the same generation and host families.
In the regional programs, they learned the strengths of each region through lectures held at prefectural government offices, visits to local industries and experiences with the traditional culture and experienced the spirit of Japanese hospitality through the school exchanges and homestay programs.
Group B visited Fukushima Prefecture. They experienced local activities to recover from the earthquake disaster through a courtesy visit to Fukushima Prefectural Government Office, a company visit, and participated in a school exchange.
In the local programs, participants came into contact with characteristic industry, traditional performing arts, the natural environment and more in each prefecture, while experiencing Japanese culture such as Japanese calligraphy and sports including martial arts together with students of the same generation to promote friendship through school exchange.
The participants discussed the theme of"peacebuilding" with Japanese students of the same generation in a school exchange, to exchange ideas about the importance of peace and what they can do toward the realization of a world without war.
In the local programs, they deepened their understanding of Japan and the Japanese people by learning about local industries, nature and Japanese culture, and participating in a school exchange program and in a homestay program which enabled students to experience the ordinary life of Japanese people.
In each region, they deepened ties with Japanese people by engaging in activities such as sports exchange through martial arts, the school exchange programme in which students introduced the culture and charms of their countries and the homestay programme.
In the local programmes, the students were exposed to agriculture and fishery, traditional arts and food culture, etc. that are unique to each region, and they introduced their own culture and had discussions with Japanese students of the same generation at the school exchange meeting.
Furthermore, in each visited regions, they observed local industries and cultural heritage. They also took part in classes and club activities at school exchanges which helped them and Japanese students learn about lives and cultures of each other, and thus deepened their friendships.
The participants said that, through the exchange in school and at their homestay, they were impressed by the fact that waste was separated everywhere at school, at home and on the street and that the Japanese have given serious consideration to the environment and made efforts for recycling since childhood.
The group received the lecture in Tokyo about the Emperor System and politics in Japan, as well as its decreasing birthrate and aging population, and learned about Japanese history from the past to present day. After that the Theme 1 group went to Hokkaido and experienced a wide range of Japanese culture through cultural experiences, school exchange and homestay, and deepened their interactions with the local people who welcomed them warmly.
Then, they were separated into groups according to their school and engaged in activities such as school exchanges and home visits in Yangon City and Bago City. They introduced a variety of things, including Japan's four seasons, traditional culture and subculture, with demonstrations to people in Myanmar of the same generation, deepening exchanges with them.
