As of this year, the Red List has evaluated 70,923 of the world's species- including almost all mammals, birds, and amphibians- of which 20,934 are deemed threatened.
The report also highlighted"devastating impacts of invasive species"- 87 percent of the 415 plants native to Hawaii are threatened with extinction, according to the Red List.
As of February 2011, the IUCN Red List lists a total of 801 animal species having gone extinct during recorded human history, although the vast majority of extinctions are thought to be undocumented.
