The second is that this test was conducted via what TorGuard labels as an“Asia-optimized US server”.
Unlike NordVPN and IPVanish, TorGuard offers a separate subscription to their Proxy service, in addition to their VPN.
Although TorGuard has more servers as compared to Nord, both will allow you to access geo-restricted from any corner of the world.
That did the trick for me however and I dove head first in. This is what I have found out about TorGuard;
Security is one of the main lifelines of a VPN service provider and TorGuard does an incredible job of balancing user needs and security.
In addition, there are numerous support materials including tutorials and guides on how to set up TorGuard VPN on various platforms and also informative content.
TorGuard is also beginning to offer access to the next-generation WireGuard protocol, which means that it is living on the cutting edge of VPN technology.
At first glance the TorGuard client will seem a little old-school and not as polished around the edges as our top three on our Best VPN list.
Normally VPN service providers are extremely focussed on their business but TorGuard brands itself as offering more than that- online privacy protection services, to be exact.
In any case, aside from the encryption rates, TorGuard also offers a host of other security elements including DNS leak protection, WebRTC leak protection and a Kill Switch.

At a monthly rate of $9.99 to a long-term price of around $5 per month if you sign up for an annual plan, TorGuard is far from cheap. Those prices put it right up against the top dogs like ExpressVPN and NordVPN.
PureVPN isn't known for blazing speeds, but it also doesn't restrict traffic in a detrimental way, making it fine for streaming and P2P. TorGuard places an emphasis on speed, which compliments its P2P and torrenting support, and uncanny ability to unblock content on several platforms.
The first thing I noticed was that TorGuard does a fair bit of branding around Torrents(P2P file sharing). This is not very typical and in fact, some VPN service providers get a little dodgy when asked directly about Torrent support- you can read our VPN guide to find out.
It's easy to see that PureVPN aims to be an all-around VPN geared towards average users, and it achieves that goal for the most part. While TorGuard can also be used by VPN novices and those with basic needs, it offers many more features that ensures better versatility and functionality.
TorGuard is pricier than many other VPNs in the market. It however makes up for this with its feature rich service, thousands of servers, strong encryption and availability across platforms. The availability of a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual plan also means users can pick the option that best suits their needs.
TorGuard comes in several different variations, including a standalone VPN, proxies, and email service- all of which are available on all the main platforms and operating systems. With the VPN service, installation is quick, and opening the app chooses a server for you, with the option to select others from around the world.
Based in Nevis, a little Island in the West Indies, TorGuard isn't forced to comply with complicated data retention laws. If you have been following my VPN reviews, this is good because legally, there are not many ways in which the company can be forced to give up whatever information it has on its users.
