You have come here to participate in this puja today, so as long as you vow to practice, the power from taking refuge will not dissipate before you attain Buddhahood-unless you break the precepts.
Why did Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche put up with all of it? Because participating in a puja is a very auspicious thing; the guru did not wish to cause those sentient beings that were present to be distressed.
Many people appear to be genuinely chanting during the pujas, but then they make a joke to the people next to them and cause them to laugh and lose their concentration.
Though the date on which the puja was held did not fall on a weekend, attendees included 308 local VIP guests from India and 237 disciples and believers from Taiwan.
Because of having participating in the puja, however, you will have some good fortune, so you might be reborn as someone's pet and be called"Doggy Son" or"Doggy Daughter" or something.
It wasn't until June of 2003 that I again besought Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche to let me attend the pujas and hence was granted permission by the compassionate Rinchen Dorjee Rinpoche.
