The Office made significant improvements to its publications programme. It reduced the backlog in the production of the Treaty Series and introduced measures that should eliminate it completely by 2001.
The Committee notes that an amount of $300,000 has been estimated for the translation and production of the Treaty Series for 2004-2005 A/58/6(Sect. 2, para. 238).
It also includes growth related to the enhanced use of information technology in the Office of Legal Affairs, partially offset by reductions for external printing of the Treaty Series.
However, with the elimination of the printing backlog in 2001, the Treaty Series will be entirely produced in 2002 in the desktop publishing format, using the enhanced capabilities of the new database.
