IMPORTANT: Choosing a strong passphrase is one of the most important steps you will perform when creating a VeraCrypt volume. The stronger the passphrase, the better. You don't have to choose your own passphrases(or even remember them!) if you use a password manager like KeePassX. Tip: If you use a password manager such as KeePassX and are concerned about being pressured to reveal the contents of your VeraCrypt container, you can store the passphrase for your(decoy) standard volume in KeePassX, but you should memorise the passphrase for your hidden volume. Otherwise, by handing over your KeePassX passphrase, you will also reveal your hidden volume passphrase.

Because this database is encrypted, you can store copies in various places, which makes backup relatively easy. We do not recommend sending your database by email or storing it online where it might be accessed by others, but many KeePassX users keep a copy on their primary computer, a copy on a USB memory stick and a copy on their backup drive.

IMPORTANT: Even though this is the passphrase for your"decoy" volume, you should still choose a strong passphrase. Please refer to the Create and maintain secure passwords and KeePassX guides to learn more about good password practices. The button labelled"Next" will remain disabled until the two passphrases you have entered match. If your passphrase is weak, you will see a warning. Consider changing it! Though VeraCrypt will accept any passphrase, your data will not be secure unless you choose a strong one.

Now find and re-open your KeePassX database using your master password.

Step 4. Click[OK] to start downloading the KeePassX archive.

KeePassX will activate a file browser so you can locate your password database.

KeePassX is a tool that helps you store and manage various passphrases inside an encrypted database file.
