ان کی مثال ایسے شخص کی مانند ہے جس نے(تاریک ماحول میں) آگ جلائی اور جب اس نے گرد و نواح کو روشن کر دیا تو اللہ نے ان کا نور سلب کر لیا اور انہیں تاریکیوں میں چھوڑ دیا اب وہ کچھ نہیں دیکھتے

چیزوں کو روشن کر دیا تو اللہ تعالیٰ ان کے نور کو لے گیا اور انہیں اندھیروں میں چھوڑ دیا کہ وہ نہیں دیکھتے

اللہ نے اِن کا نور بصارت سلب کر لیا اور انہیں اس حال میں چھوڑ دیا کہ تاریکیوں میں انہیں کچھ نظر نہیں آتا

اور بیشک ہم نے موسٰی(علیہ السلام) کو اپنی نشانیوں کے ساتھ بھیجا کہ(اے موسٰی!) تم اپنی قوم کو اندھیروں سے نکال کر نور کی طرف لے جاؤ اور انہیں اﷲ کے دنوں کی یاد دلاؤ(جو ان پر اور پہلی امتوں پر آچکے تھے)۔ بیشک اس میں ہر زیادہ صبر کرنے والے(اور) خوب شکر بجا لانے والے کے لئے نشانیاں ہیں

Or, Who guides you in utter darkness of the land and the sea,
بھلا وہ کون ہے جو خشکی اور تری کی تاریکیوں میں تمہاری رہنمائی کرتا ہے

Or like utter darkness in the deep sea: there covers it a wave above which is another wave, above which is a cloud,(layers of) utter darkness one above another; when he holds out his hand,
یا(ان کے اعمال کی مثال ایسی ہے) جیسے دریائے عمیق میں اندھیرے جس پر لہر چڑھی چلی آتی ہو اور اس کے اوپر اور لہر(آرہی ہو) اور اس کے اوپر بادل ہو، غرض اندھیرے ہی اندھیرے ہوں، ایک پر ایک(چھایا ہوا)

Who guides you in utter darkness of the land and the sea,
اور وہ کون ہے جو خشکی اور سمندر کی تاریکیوں میں تم کو راستہ دکھاتا ہے

Or like utter darkness in a vast ocean, covered by waves, above which are waves, above which is fog. Darkness upon darkness. If he brings out his hand, he will hardly see it. He to whom God has not
یا(ان کے اعمال کی مثال ایسی ہے) جیسے دریائے عمیق میں اندھیرے جس پر لہر چڑھی چلی آتی ہو اور اس کے اوپر اور لہر(آرہی ہو)

بلکہ وہ کون ہے جو تمہیں خشک و تر(یعنی زمین اور سمندر) کی تاریکیوں میں راستہ دکھاتا ہے اور جو ہواؤں کو اپنی(بارانِ)

Can he who was dead, to whom We gave life, and a light whereby he could walk among people be like him who is in utter darkness from which he can never emerge? Thus the deeds of those who deny the truth have been made fair-seeming to them.
ایسا شخص جو پہلے مرده تھا پھر ہم نے اس کو زنده کردیا اور ہم نے اس کو ایک ایسا نور دے دیا کہ وه اس کو لئے ہوئے آدمیوں میں چلتا پھرتا ہے۔ کیا ایسا شخص اس شخص کی طرح ہوسکتا ہے؟ جو تاریکیوں سے نکل ہی نہیں پاتا۔ اسی طرح کافروں کو ان کے اعمال خوش نما معلوم ہوا کرتے ہیں
