The University has established an international reputation for the quality of teaching and research, with academics and students working together on major projects across areas as varied as cancer treatment, water conservation and low-carbon technology.
In the third area, UNU-IAS will contribute to implementing the Paris Agreement on climate change through research on the international transfer of low-carbon technology, focusing on the needs of developing countries and on city-to-city initiatives.
Mobilization of private sector capital is also crucial for achieving this commitment and unlocking the required investments in low-carbon technologies as well as in building resilience against the effects of climate change.
In order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through utilization of Japan's low-carbon technologies and products, feasibility studies assisted by Japan will be undertaken in Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam for developing bilateral offset mechanisms.
We believed that such models would improve the global environment while reducing time from fuel collection; generating income from low-carbon technologies; curbing health and sanitation risks; increasing access to clean energy; and generating other co-benefits for women in Asia.
In order to achieve sustainable growth more effectively and comprehensively, we confirm the importance of establishing a framework to appropriately evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of cooperation through the diffusion of low carbon technologies and products as well as through other efforts.
Moreover, in Vietnam, we are conducting the evaluation of low carbon technologies to materialize the implementation of INDC in order to give assistance to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment(MONRE) and the ministries and agencies in charge of respective sectors, as part of assistance given by JICA.
Public resources should therefore seek to leverage private-sector financing, to support research, development and demonstration of low carbon technologies in order to accelerate the development and deployment of early stage technologies, and to aid implementation of adaptation and mitigation strategies in developing countries.
IGES: Research Partnership for the Application of Low Carbon Technology for Sustainable Development During the week from 1 to 8 December 2013, a researcher and a technical expert from IGES visited India to follow up on work related to the compressed air system.
DAY2 Thematic Track 6: ISAP2018 Innovative Approaches to Promote Low Carbon Technologies and Best Practices The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies(IGES) and the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability(UNU-IAS) have undertaken various research activities to promote the dissemination of low-carbon technologies in India.
IGES: Research Partnership for the Application of Low Carbon Technology for Sustainable Development Over the few days from 16 to 19 October, 2013, an expert from IGES paid a visit to two sites where GHP systems have been installed in India.
Participants exchanged views on each country's actions and strategies toward low-carbon growth, cooperation between developed and developing countries, the importance of low-carbon technologies, financial support and market mechanisms, and the significance of effective networks among the various stakeholders.

Carbon pricing[6]"(pricing for carbon emissions) is the core element in transitioning towards a decarbonized economy. It provides all economic agents incentives to reduce emissions and is expected to strengthen market competitiveness in the area of low-carbon technologies, products, and services with the full use of market vitality.
IGES: Research Partnership for the Application of Low Carbon Technology for Sustainable Development In order to follow up on the operation of the installed GHP systems, IGES researchers and experts paid two visits(17-23 May, 14-22 June) to the sites in Rajkot.
Although many countries are looking toward low-carbon technologies and clean, renewable energy sources to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, fossil fuels are still our primary energy source, as illustrated in BP's 2012 Statistical Review of World Energy.
Mitigation: Diffusion of superior low-carbon-emission technologies(10 items) Japan has been working on the diffusion of advanced low-carbon-emission technologies and will continue to extend such technological assistance to respond the needs of developing countries, utilizing the Joint Crediting Mechanism(JCM) system, and other means.
We welcomed Japans important initiative to collect and summarize the information on current major policies and programs of G8 and other countries on low carbon technology, cooperation with African countries and large-scale research facilities to further enhance international collaboration within a year.
