(a) The completion of the ongoing military operations in the Kivus and Orientale Province, resulting in reducing to a minimum the threat from armed groups and restoring stability in sensitive areas;
The Group estimates that there are currently more than 2,000 members of Congolese armed groups in the Kivus, in addition to 1,000 Congolese belonging to foreign armed groups.
A total of 27 joint protection teams were deployed in the Kivus and Orientale Province in areas most affected by conflict and violations of international humanitarian law and human rights.
