The present report, submitted in compliance with General Assembly resolution 58/203 of 23 December 2003, complements the report of the Secretary-General on the follow-up to and implementation of the outcome of the International Conference on Financing for Development(A/59/270). It analyses the evolution of debt indicators of developing countries and countries with economies in transition in the context of recent developments in international trade and payments and in international capital markets.

By resolution 2001/41, the Council called upon the Secretary-General, in future reports to the General Assembly on the follow-up to and implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, to assess progress made on mainstreaming a gender perspective within the United Nations system, including by providing information on key achievements, lessons learned and best practices, and to recommend further actions and strategies for future action within the United Nations system.

WHO and OAU have agreed on an initiative for the establishment of a long-term joint OAU/WHO project associated with the Special Health Fund for Africa under which further fund-raising would be managed.
