In a competitive ELISA assay, sample antigen and labeled antigen compete for capture antibody binding. The more target protein there is in the sample, the less labeled antigen will be captured and the weaker the signal.
The carbohydrate moieties of CD44 can function independently as blood group antigens on red blood cells 16 and as ligands for E-selectin on neutrophils 17 and E- and L-selectin on human hematopoietic progenitor cells 18,19.
In some arrangements, one of the components(typically the antigen component rather than the adjuvant component) is in dry form(e.g. in a lyophilised form), with the other component being in aqueous form.
