He says Blackwater is being employed for covert ops, essentially intended to target high-value al-Qaeda leaders, including Osama bin Laden, but it has also assisted in providing information for drone attacks and has kidnapped suspects and transported them covertly to the U.S. for interrogation….
But that, in turn, could only lead to strengthening and widening the scope of such operations as drone strikes, special forces raids on foreign territories(like the one executed by Navy SEALS in Pakistan in May 2011), and whatever new techniques are invented in the coming years.
Earlier this month, in a story(2/6/12) about a new Bureau of Investigative Journalism report about CIA drone strikes targeting rescuers and funerals, the Times granted anonymity to a U.S. official who equated the nonprofit news outlet's researchers with Al-Qaeda sympathizers.
And let's assume, several hundred, if not a thousand or more civilians have been killed in the drone attacks, which are now, of course, being spread with increased intensity not only in Afghanistan and Pakistan and, earlier, in Iraq, but in Yemen, most recently in Somalia and with the deployment of US Predator drones in Libya, in that country.
