The deaths of over 1,000 migrants at sea within a week in April spurred positive, if belated, EU action to step up search and rescue efforts in the central Mediterranean.
NEW YORK/ GENEVA/ SYDNEY, 21 April 2017- According to UNICEF estimates, more than 150 children have died crossing the Central Mediterranean from North Africa to Italy so far this year.
