It is proposed to redeploy the Environmental Officer post(P-3) from the Engineering Section to the Office of the Director of the Logistics Support Division to improve efficiency in integrating environmental policy within the whole Division, enhance support in implementing environmental policy in field operations and ensure approval of non-engineering technical areas by appropriate substantive personnel(see A/64/697, para. 254).
It is proposed that an Engineer(P-4) post from the Engineering Section be reassigned to the Programme Implementation Coordination Team in the Office of the Under-Secretary-General as Programme Officer(P-4) to support the implementation of the global field support strategy(see A/65/761,
As reflected in table 33, the redeployment of three posts/positions of Geographic Information Systems Officer(1 P-3 and 2 United Nations Volunteer) from the Engineering Section to the Communications and Information Technology Section is also proposed, on the basis of the alignment of related functions approved by the General Assembly in its resolution 67/287.
It is indicated in the report that the Environmental Unit in the Office of the Director of Mission Support will comprise three posts and positions redeployed from the Engineering Section(one P-3, one National Professional Officer and one United Nations Volunteer), as well as one United Nations Volunteer position

(b) One post(a P-4 Engineer) from the Engineering Section of the Logistics Support Division is proposed to be reassigned as a Programme Officer(P-4) post, the incumbent of which would be responsible for development and implementation of an internal/external communications plan in support of the implementation of the strategy(see A/65/761, para. 242).
A net decrease of 58 posts and positions in Technical Services is attributable to the abolition of 53 posts and positions(17 Field Service, 8 national General Service staff and 28 United Nations Volunteers) and the redeployment of five posts(3 P-3 and 2 Field Service) from the Engineering Section to the Contracts Management Section and the Trust Fund Unit, as detailed in paragraphs 53 to 55 below.
With a view to an enhanced, centralized and effective coordinated approach to all environmental issues in the Mission, since environmental issues are cross-cutting in nature, it is proposed to redeploy the Environment Unit, consisting of one post of Environmental Officer at the P-3 level, and two National Professional Officer posts, one of Associate Environmental Officer and one of Assistant Environmental Officer, from the Engineering Section to the Office of the Chief of Service Delivery.
