As the present summary statement is the first to be issued in January 2008, it identifies, pursuant to the procedure set out in the note by the President of the Security Council dated 19 July 2006(S/2006/507), items which, as at 1 January 2008, are subject to deletion for having not been considered by the Council at a formal meeting during the preceding five-year period of 2003-2007.
Pursuant to the procedure set out in the note by the President, the items identified in paragraph 4 above will be deleted unless a Member State notifies the President of the Security Council by 29 February 2012 that it wishes an item subject to deletion to remain on the list of matters of which the Security Council is seized, in which case such item will remain on the list for one year, unless the Council decides otherwise.
In addition, as it is the first addendum issued in March, it reflects the deletion of items pursuant to the procedure set out in the note by the President dated 31 December 2008(S/2008/847), and lists those items subject to deletion which, at the request of a Member State and with the concurrence of the Security Council, will remain on the summary statement for one additional year.
Pursuant to the procedure set out in the note by the President of the Security Council of 29 August 1996( S/1996/704), I have the honour to inform you that the Government of the Republic of Cuba wishes all the items brought to the attention of the Council by the Republic of Cuba, as indicated in document S/2002/30, to remain on the list of matters of which the Council is seized.
