Measures taken and progress achieved in the follow-up to and implementation of the Fourth World Conference on Women and to the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly: review of progress
s report on the follow-up to and implementation of the outcome of the International Conference on Financing for Development(A/59/270).
In its resolution 52/100, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to report annually to the General Assembly, the Commission on the Status of Women and the Economic and Social Council on the follow-up to and implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.1 Similar mandates were contained in General Assembly resolutions 51/69 and 50/203.
That request was reiterated by the General Assembly in resolution 59/225 of 22 December 2004, on the follow-up to and implementation of the outcome of the International Conference on Financing for Development, in which it requested the Secretary-General to submit to it an annual analytical assessment of the state of the implementation of the Monterrey Consensus and of the resolution, to be prepared in full collaboration with the major institutional stakeholders.
(b) Report of the Secretary-General on measures taken and progress achieved in the follow-up to and implementation of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the special session of the General Assembly entitled" Women 2000: gender equality, development and peace for the twenty-first century",

At its sixty-first session, the General Assembly urged Governments and all relevant international and regional organizations to take timely action for the effective implementation of and follow-up to the Mauritius Declaration and the Mauritius Strategy for Implementation; and requested the Secretary-General to submit a report to the Assembly at its sixty-second session on the follow-up to and implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for Implementation(resolution 61/196).
By resolution 2001/41, the Council called upon the Secretary-General, in future reports to the General Assembly on the follow-up to and implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, to assess progress made on mainstreaming a gender perspective within the United Nations system, including by providing information on key achievements, lessons learned and best practices, and to recommend further actions and strategies for future action within the United Nations system.
Recalls paragraph 69 of the Monterrey Consensus and building on the experience of the high-level spring meeting of the Economic and Social Council and the High-level Dialogue of the General Assembly in 2003, in the context of the integrated approach to the follow-up to and implementation of the commitments made and agreements reached at the International Conference on Financing for Development, requests.

Recalling also the resolution adopted by the 60th Session of t he United Nations General Assembly resolution on the follow-up to and implementation of the outcome of the second phase of the World Summit on the Information Society hosted by Tunisia from 16 to 18 November 2005, which represents an integral part of the United Nations comprehensive follow-up process of its economic and social conferences in order to achieve the internationally agreed development goals, including t he Millennium Development Goals;
Requests the Secretary-General to include an assessment of the implementation of the present resolution in his report to the Commission at its forty-ninth session on the measures taken and progress achieved in the follow-up to and implementation of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the special session of the General Assembly entitled" Women 2000: gender equality, development and peace for the twenty-first century", especially in mainstreaming gender perspectives in entities of the United Nations system.
and(d) liaise with the secretariat of the Commission of Inquiry on the follow-up to and implementation of the Commission ' s conclusions and recommendations.
