This project is conducting research for the standardization of evaluation techniques for bottom mud, countermeasure projects that take into full account the ecosystems that thrive at the bottom of lakes, stability and safety evaluation measures for bottom mud, and measures to combat the influx of sedimentary deposits from rivers.
Incorporating both domestic and overseas trends, this project strives to build a solid basis for CO2 reduction by performing estimation of storage capacity, efficacy evaluation via cost analysis, and review of safety assessment methods for possible implementation of geological storage in Japan.
We used consumer surveys across 22 countries spanning six regions, and other estimation approaches(such as big data analysis of online job postings), and found that geospatial services make an impact in three key ways.
A method to assess flood damage under certain rainfall scenarios, including heavy rainfall observed in the past and probable heavy rainfall e.g. rainfall of a certain intensity with the likelihood of once in 100 years.
We will also investigate durability when solidified soil and slag composite soil are used in sea areas, the mechanical characteristics of composite ground materials containing various byproducts, crushable materials, and other contents, and methods of evaluating and managing the quality of these materials.
The"Display Technology Center" will use knowledge and know-how accumulated by JNC to reproduce the evaluation method and process requirements of our customers, in order to optimize liquid crystal display-related materials including liquid crystal materials, and provide technical support in a wide range of processes including proposal of usage requirements for the materials.
Major Results of Research and Development in Fiscal 2003 III-2 On-board comfort is affected by a variety of factors including vibration, noise, temperature, illumination, and views from the window. However, although each of these factors has been studied individually, almost no progress has been made in the study of mutual effects of combined factors and the evaluation techniques of overall comfort.
Development of Flood Risk Assessment Methods for Japan and Asian Countries To deal with flood risk, which can be affected by medium- and long-term climate change, Sompo Risk Management is engaged in research and development into flood risk assessment methods for Japan and Asian countries to offer new insurance services and risk consulting services that support adaptation to climate change.
This research offers two safety evaluation methods, one through numerical analysis, based on the dominant frequency of the boulder obtained from vibration measurements and on an FEM analysis model, which offers detailed stability assessment under normal conditions and in case of an earthquake(Figure 1-d); the other simpler evaluation method uses the dominant frequency to determine a falling safety factor in relation to the rock block's boulder's stability against collapse in nomogram form Figure 1-e.
