Spectroline® fluorescent dyes are used to check for fluid leaks in power plants, nuclear reactors, oil pipelines and industrial facilities worldwide, and were even used on the U.S. Space Shuttle.
But unfortunately, the indigo dye that's used to create those inky, dark denim jeans that you love, is notorious for bleeding(e.g. transferring off and getting on other stuff).
Dyes, for examples, are known to those skilled in the art and can readily be classified by chemical structure, e.g., azo dyes(strong and cost-effective) and anthraquinone dyes(weak and expensive).
The other main ingredient in bluejeans, indigo dye, is usually produced synthetically through a complex, multistep process performed with highly toxic chemicals.
Typically, the most vibrant plant color can be extracted from tree roots but at Tarum, dyes are extracted from the leaves and bark of local Indonesian trees.
