Business management and human life in our society is founded on the ecosystem services- a multitude of nature's blessings provided by our natural capital, including soil, air, water, and animals and plants.
About 18 scientists writing in the academic journal Biological Invasions in 2014 expressed concern about the project impacting the biodiversity and the ecosystem services of the Mediterranean Sea.
Our project investigates the characteristics of the ecosystem of each region and the sustainable use of ecosystem services by local residents. It seeks to model the schemes that maintain the balance between use and conservation to produce a good practice model.
The global assessment from the UN-mandated Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services(IPBES)- a sibling organization of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC)- finds that the loss of nature and the resulting wildlife extinction crisis is even worse than previously understood.
The chapter describes the current state of ecosystem service models and modelling approaches for IPBES assessments and other users, and highlights strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to modelling ecosystem services in the context of policy and decision-making.
Consideration of the quality of that space can ensure that it serves the multiple purposes of enhancing biodiversity, providing ecosystem services(Arnold& Gibbons 1996), creating opportunities for contact with nature(Miller 2005) and enhancing psychological well-being.”.
They spoke about the environmental issues such as climate change and population increase in Asia. Specifically, they exchanged opinions about mangrove forest preservation, ecosystem service assessment in hilly and mountainous regions, and water damage prediction in Shiga and Toyama prefectures.
Released in Ecosystems Services journal, the paper, which was co-authored by several other researchers at Mae Fah Luang and the Australian National University, forecasts in particular“huge negative economic impacts for Cambodia and Vietnam.”.
More specifically, it aims to benefit society and the global economy, and safeguard the ecosystem services upon which humanity depends- global climate, freshwater supply, food, energy, clean air, fertile soil, pollinators, and so on.
Populations dependent on agriculture for their livelihoods, especially pastoralists and the poor and undernourished, are particularly vulnerable to environmental degradation, loss of ecosystem services, climate change and related extreme weather events, such as those associated with El Niño.
It must be in harmony with nature, respect environmental limits, and recognise the crucial underpinning provided by biodiversity and ecosystem services, and thus the fundamental importance of nature conservation to economic prosperity and poverty eradication.
A recently published United Nations(UN) Global Assessment report[1] conducted by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services(IPBES) with more than 450 experts from around the world marks the milestones for safeguarding our healthy planet.
The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services(IPBES) released the outcome reports on the regional assessment of biodiversity and ecosystem services for Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, Europe and Central Asia.
We take note of the establishment of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, and invite an early commencement of its work, in order to provide the best available policy-relevant information on biodiversity to assist decision makers.
Populations dependent on agriculture for their livelihoods, especially pastoralists and the poor and undernourished, are particularly vulnerable to environmental degradation, loss of ecosystem services, climate change and related extreme weather events, such as those associated with El NiƱo.
Agricultural land in urban and peri-urban areas is important not only as a supply source of agricultural products but also as green open space, disaster evacuation space, and other ecosystem services such as rainwater storage and water circulation.
The ocean economy encompasses ocean-based industries(such as shipping, fishing, offshore wind, marine biotechnology), but also the natural assets and ecosystem services that the ocean provides(fish, shipping lanes, CO2 absorption and the like).
In May 2019, the report“One million species of animals and plants are in danger of extinction due to human activities” was issued by the Intergovernmental Organization on Environment“The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services(IPBES) it was announced by'.
The research team is committed to study the related topics of chemical engineering, agriculture, environment, ecology, green energy and green building materials from the interdisciplinary and nanoscience perspective, and does the cases of ecosystem services assessment.
Especially focusing on land use and spatial evaluation of natural environment, we are working on comprehensive solution of issues related to renewable energy(biomass, small hydro, solar power, etc.), ecosystem services, environment, economy and society.
