The ICG programme on GNSS applications, which has a special focus on organizing regional workshops and training courses for capacity-building in developing countries, was outlined.
Most navigation today relies on global navigation satellite system(GNSS), such as GPS, which sends and receives signals from satellites orbiting the earth.
The Subcommittee noted that the Global Navigation Satellite System(GLONASS) of the Russian Federation currently had 22 operational GLONASS-M satellites in orbit, with the other four satellites in maintenance status.
While current and future GNSS operators are in a competitive mode, collaboration is expected to increase, a process that will serve the user community better.
The first presentation session provided an overview of the GNSS technologies currently being used in agriculture and the management of natural resources, telemedicine and landscape epidemiology, and transportation.
目前有两套全球卫星导航系统----美利坚合众国的全球定位系统和俄罗斯联邦的全球轨道导航卫星系统。
There are currently two global satellite navigation systems(GSNS), the Global Positioning System(GPS) of the United States of America and the Global Navigation Satellite System(GLONASS) of the Russian Federation.
Each technical session was followed by a panel discussion that addressed the challenges identified in the papers presented and future technology trends related to new GNSS signals.
Current fully operational global navigation satellite systems(GNSS) include the Global Positioning System(GPS) of the United States of America and the Global Navigation Satellite System(GLONASS) of the Russian Federation.
The instructors were GNSS experts from the Faculty of Maritime Studies of the University of Rijeka(Croatia), the Russian Space Agency(Russian Federation) and Beihang University(China).
In the course, each participant carried out a performance analysis of Receiver Independent Exchange(RINEX)-format GNSS positioning data, using an open source programme package.
At the Workshop, participants discussed GNSS technologies, applications and services that contribute to sustainable economic and social development programmes, primarily in developing countries.
Further steps were taken in the preparation of the terms of reference for the establishment of an international committee on GNSS for the purpose of promoting and coordinating the use and applications of GNSS..
(e) Second International Symposium on Global Navigation Satellite Systems, Space-based and Ground-based Augmentation Systems and Applications, held in Berlin from 30 November to 2 December;
The International Committee on Global Navigation Satellite Systems(ICG), established in 2005 under the umbrella of the United Nations, provides a unique forum for multilateral discussions among system operators.
It also provided the composition of its continuously operating network of global navigation satellite system sites and the work being done in data processing and provision, and capacity-building.
It also noted that substantive progress had been made in furthering the ICG workplan that had been approved at the First Meeting of the International Committee on Global Navigation Satellite Systems.
Many devices rely on a singular location technology(typically GPS), which is one type of the wider eco systemof Global Navigation Satellite Systems(GNSS).
