THE CONSIDERATION BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY in Arabic translation

In accordance with the provisions of paragraph 8.1 of the annex to the report mentioned in paragraph 1 above and the views of Member States expressed during the consideration by the General Assembly on 9 and 13 October 2008 of the progress of the Peacebuilding Fund, the Head of the Peacebuilding Support Office initiated a revision of the terms of reference for the Fund which incorporated and benefited from a series of discrete processes.

ووفقا لأحكام الفقرة 8-1 من مرفق التقرير المذكور في الفقرة 1 أعلاه، والآراء التي أعربت عنها الدول الأعضاء أثناء نظر الجمعية العامة في التقدم الذي أحرزه الصندوق يومي 9 و 13 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2008، بدأ رئيس مكتب دعم بناء السلام تنقيح اختصاصات الصندوق، الذي تضمن مجموعة من العمليات المستقلة واستفيد فيه منها

Decides to revert to the issues regarding level, staffing and functions of the Peacebuilding Support Office as contained in the report of the Secretary-General5 in the context of its consideration of the proposed programme budget for the biennium 2008-2009 and in the light of decisions, if any, that may result from the consideration by the General Assembly of the report of the Secretary-General to be submitted in accordance with paragraph 25 of its resolution 60/180 of 20 December 2005;

The Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions has considered the Controller ' s letter of 15 December 1997 requesting the Committee ' s concurrence to enter into commitments in the amount of $6,932,700 gross($6,274,800 net) for the period from 1 January to 31 March 1998 to provide additional financial resources for the identification process, pending the consideration by the General Assembly of the revised budget for the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara(MINURSO).

This will promote the consideration by the General Assembly at the fiftieth session of the matter of developing the kind of realistic machinery for development cooperation that mobilizes all Member States and also international institutions, organizations, programmes and funds within the United Nations system and those outside it in order to achieve- through agreed upon, coordinated efforts- the different, but nevertheless shared, development goals of all countries, in the name of progress and growth for all peoples and for mankind.
