In tandem with the report of the Security Council, we are also, appropriately, considering the report of the Open-ended Working Group on the Question of Equitable Representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters related to the Security Council, which is contained in document A/59/47.
Having considered the report of the Open-ended Working Group on the Question of Representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters Related to the Security Council, which was established pursuant to its resolution 48/26 of 3 December 1993, on its deliberations during the fifty-eighth session of the General Assembly.
In this regard, we would like to pay glowing tribute to Mr. Miguel d ' Escoto Brockmann for the report of the Open-ended Working Group on the Question of Equitable Representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters related to the Security Council, contained in document A/63/47.
In this regard, we welcome the report of the Open-ended Working Group on the Question of Equitable Representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council(A/48/47) in response to General Assembly resolution 48/26 of 3 December 1993, and the recommendation that the Open-Ended Working Group should continue its work.
Having considered the report of the Open-ended Working Group on the Question of Equitable Representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters related to the Security Council, which was established pursuant to its resolution 48/26 of 3 December 1993, on its deliberations during the sixtieth session of the General Assembly.
To this end, my delegation welcomes the report of the Open-ended Working Group on the Question of Equitable Representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters related to the Security Council, contained in document A/58/47, which recommends that discussions on the topic be continued at the current session of the General Assembly.
I would also wish to express our appreciation for the report of the Open-ended Working Group on the Question of Equitable Representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters Related to the Security Council, which, although it was submitted to the Assembly towards the end of the sixtieth session, I recognize as relevant to this particular debate.
Security Council At its 91st plenary meeting, on 24 August 1998, the General Assembly, having considered the report of the Open-ended Working Group on the Question of Equitable Representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters Related to the Security Council, Official Records of the General Assembly, Fifty-second Session, Supplement No. 47(A/52/47), para. 24.
They took note of the report of the Open-ended Working Group on the Question of Equitable Representation on and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council and Other Matters Related to the Security Council, reflecting agreement to expand the Security Council and to review its working methods and other matters related to its functioning in order to strengthen its capacity and effectiveness and enhance its representative character.
We thus welcome the report of the Open-ended Working Group on the Question of Equitable Representation On and Increase in the Membership of the Security Council.
