During the regional programme, they visited key industries in Tochigi Prefecture or Kyoto Prefecture, and experienced nature, history, traditional performing arts and food culture. They gained a deeper understanding of Japan's diverse cultures and lifestyle.
In the following reception, students from both universities, including overseas exchange students, enjoyed talking to the First Lady, Chairperson Ochojska, and the Ambassador in a friendly atmosphere and deepened understanding between the two countries in an international atmosphere.
In Aichi, the participants visited a Toyota Motor Corporation to learn about Toyota's advanced technology, and visited Inuyama Castle, a national treasure, as well as a Jo-an(tearoom) to deepen their understanding about the history and culture of Japan.
On February 2018 in Japan, meanwhile, people with disabilities were invited to give lectures on how to deal with lifestyles and products from the perspective of interested parties, and joined in workshops designed to deepen understanding.
In Tochigi, they made a courtesy visit to a local government, visited regional industries, and visited Nikko Toshogu Shrine, where they were exposed to history and unique nature in the region, and enriched their understanding of Japanese culture and living practices.
After moving to the Kansai region, they were divided into 2 groups. Each group made courtesy visits to the local governments, visited local industries, experienced Japanese culture, and participated in various other programs, to gain deeper understanding of Japan and the Japanese people.
In July 2001 MIER invited five high government officials and personnel from the Ministry of Finance, the State Planning Committee, the National University of Laos, and elsewhere to Kuala Lumpur, where they observed the central bank and other relevant institutions and talked with staff, thus deepening their understanding of Malaysia's economic development.
The keynote speech was presented by the former vice-chair of the Japan Society of Sport Sociology, followed by a discussion with panelists from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, JICA, experts from the medical and health sectors of developing countries, and J-League, which deepened the understanding about the background of Sports for Tomorrow and its current status.
Through each of these topics, the participants gained awareness of the differences in their cultures and approaches by touching on the unique challenges of each other's countries, and with these new perspectives and ways of thinking, they were able to gain further mutual understanding. On the final day of the program, each of the students from Queens College took what was discussed and gave a presentation summarizing their thoughts.
This year's forum addressed such topics as the events leading up to Thailand's gaining press freedom, problem areas of Thailand's freedom of information law, the information gap in Asia, and investors' view of the countries of Indochina. Engaging in lively debate, the participants gained a deeper understanding of these issues.
In the workshops, under the themes of"Building of a Wind Car" and"Principles of Liquefaction," students of each university and those of the UDEM attached high school participated and deepened their understanding of the movements and phenomena of objects through building equipment and experiments. NUT has concluded an academic exchange agreement with nine universities in Mexico, including UDEM, and currently has 18 Mexican students.
