This presentation assesses the challenges of addressing NCDs in the Pacific from the perspective of development communication and social change.
NCDs kill 41 million people each year, equivalent to 71% of all deaths globally.
Since releasing its Framework for Action on NCDs in 2011, IFPMA has delivered a series of research projects and health education initiatives to identify new ways to help people fight NCDs.
According to statistics from the World Health Organization(WHO), 39.5 million people died due to NCDs in 2015, accounting for approximately 70% of all causes of mortality.
In animal models of NCDs, transplantation of dysbiotic microbiota into healthy animals results in disease, and microbiota composition is shaped by close contact with others.
Add to this the rising incidence of non-communicable diseases(NCDs) and growing geriatric population- these will generate a demand for 40 million additional health workers globally by 2030.
We know the health crises faced around the globe, in particular diabetes, hypertension, and other non-communicable diseases(NCDs) are not going away.
The Ministry of Health and Sports recognizes insufficiency of aid on NCDs from other countries, and strongly advocates the necessity of support at meetings with UN Organizations and international NGOs.
