Referring to General Assembly resolution 68/1 of 20 September 2013 on the review of the implementation of General Assembly resolution 61/16 on the strengthening of the Economic and Social Council, in which it is stipulated that the Economic and Social Council shall invite, inter alia, its subsidiary bodies to contribute, as appropriate, to its work in keeping with the agreed annual theme.
Recalling further General Assembly resolution 68/1 of 20 September 2013 entitled" Review of the implementation of General Assembly resolution 61/16 on the strengthening of the Economic and Social Council", in which the Assembly stipulated that the Council shall invite, inter alia, its subsidiary bodies to contribute, as appropriate, to its work in keeping with the agreed annual theme.
At its March meeting, under governance issues, the Standing Committee agreed once again to replace the traditional annual theme with a debate based on the High Commissioner ' s introductory statement outlining his perspective on the work of the Office. The Standing Committee also adopted the work programme for 2003 as proposed at the December planning meeting of the Committee.
