By its resolution 61/229, the Assembly requested the United Nations system to continue to provide assistance to the African Union( AU) and the NEPAD secretariat and to African countries in developing projects and programmes within the scope of NEPAD, and requested the Secretary-General to promote greater coherence in the work of the United Nations system in support of the New Partnership, on the basis of the agreed clusters.
