Over the reporting period, SFOR monitored 170 demining operations carried out by the entity armed forces: 54 by the Bosniacs; 95 by the Bosnian Croats; and 21 by the Bosnian Serbs.
There were a total of 133 Entity Armed Forces training and operation activities(109 VRS and 24 VF) during the reporting period and 297 movements(180 VRS
On 20 February, Operation Armadillo was transformed to Operation Armadillo 2, changing SFOR ' s support for the reduction of unserviceable, redundant and obsolete Entity Armed Forces ammunition.
In order to support the reduction of unserviceable and obsolete Entity Armed Forces ammunition and reduce ammunition quantities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, SFOR has continued to conduct Operation Armadillo II. As at 31 July 2004, the total amount of Republika Srpska Army ammunition destroyed was 2,161 tons.
In order to support the reduction of unserviceable and obsolete entity armed forces ammunition and reduce ammunition quantities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, SFOR has continued to conduct Operation Armadillo II. As at 30 June 2004, the total amount of ammunition of the Republika Srpska Army(VRS) destroyed was 1,585 tons.
Between 14 September and 18 October, the Entity Armed Forces, now accredited to the Bosnia-Herzegovina Mine Action Centre, conducted 836 demining activities, removing a total of 536 devices(19 anti-tank mines, 324 anti-personnel mines and 193 items of unexploded ordnance) from 40,453 square metres of land.
Stabilization Force(SFOR) troops continued to conduct surveillance and reconnaissance by means of ground and air patrols, and operations across the SFOR area included area security, monitoring the border with the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, monitoring the entity armed forces, conducting inspections of weapons storage sites and providing support to the international organizations in theatre.
Between 17 May and 13 June, 44 Entity armed forces demining teams conducted 642 mine-clearing operations, removing 3 anti-tank mines, 102 anti-personnel mines and 41 items of unexploded ordnance from 50,344 square metres of land.
Operations across the SFOR area included area security, monitoring the border with the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, monitoring the entity armed forces, conducting weapons storage site inspections, providing support to the international organizations in theatre and collecting weapons and ammunition within the framework of Operation Harvest 99.
There were a total of 132 Entity Armed Forces training and operation activities(75 VRS and 57 VF) during the reporting period and 392 movements(298 VRS and 94 VF) conducted during the reporting period.
On 4 and 5 February officers from SFOR headquarters Joint Military Affairs Branch participated, along with representatives from the Secretariat of the Standing Committee for Military Matters, the entity armed forces and the relevant entity civil agencies, in a disaster preparedness training and exercise programme led by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and held in Doboj.
The Stabilization Force(SFOR) continues to contribute to the maintenance of a safe and secure environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina, to monitor compliance by the Entity Armed Forces, to conduct inspections and the consolidation of weapons storage sites, to provide support to the international organizations working in theatre, to provide support to the Federation
The mine-clearing campaign continued, with the deployment of 36 entity armed forces demining teams.
The summer demining campaign continued, with the deployment of 44 Entity Armed Forces demining teams.
A total of 501 Entity Armed Forces mine-clearing activities were monitored during the reporting period.
There are currently no bans imposed on the Entity Armed Forces for non-compliance with mine-clearing operations.
The Working Group on Defence Reductions formally submitted proposals for reducing the size of the entity armed forces.
The professionalization of the entity armed forces was also discussed, together with their support to the process of refugee returns.
