At the 9th meeting, on 9 October, the representative of Chile, on behalf of the Working Group, introduced a draft resolution entitled" International cooperation in the peaceful uses of outer space"(A/C.4/57/L.5).
On behalf of the Working Group, I would also like to thank the Department for Disarmament Affairs for its support for our work through the assignment of an especially effective adviser, namely, Mr. Curtis Raynold, and his assistant, Ms. Kristin Jenssen.
UNODC also participated in an expert seminar focusing on economic, social and cultural rights, organized by OHCHR on behalf of the working group in Geneva from 5 to 7 November.
Mr. Rao(India), speaking on behalf of the Working Group of the Whole on International Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, introduced the two draft resolutions and said that draft resolution A/C.4/54/L.6 was basically the same as the previous year's resolution on the item but contained a few changes.
Mrs. EVATT, speaking on behalf of the Working Group on Article 40 of the Covenant, said that paragraph 4, like the paragraphs before it, dealt with basic principles and sought to define the concepts" conduct of public affairs" and" citizens ' participation in the conduct of public affairs directly or through freely chosen representatives".
On behalf of the Working Group he appealed to the United States delegation, in the light of the general feeling expressed by delegations participating in the Working Group, for a deferment of the implementation of the Programme and urged the host country delegation to take the appeal
During the seventh session of the Advisory Committee, Jean Ziegler, on behalf of the working group on the right to food, presented an update on the preliminary study in which the views and comments of States and other stakeholders where presented, together with the last developments on the issue and proposals to be included in the final study(A/HRC/AC/7/CRP.1).
In connection with the draft decision, the Chairman, at the request of the Chairman of Working Group II on behalf of the Working Group, agreed to explore with the Global Environment Facility the possibilities of its assisting affected developing countries in compiling and communicating information in accordance with the relevant articles of the Convention.

At the closing meeting, Mr. José Bengoa, on behalf of the Working Group on Minorities warmly thanked all the participants and ODECO for their valuable contribution to the seminar and reaffirmed the support of the Working Group for Afrodescendant
Mr. Sinha(India), speaking on behalf of the Working Group of the Whole on International Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, drew attention to draft resolution A/C.4/53/L.7 and expressed his appreciation in particular to the Director of the Outer Space Affairs Division and his colleagues for their invaluable assistance.

At the 8th meeting of the Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict, held on 10 May 2007 in connection with the consideration of the report of the Secretary-General on children and armed conflict in Sri Lanka(S/2006/1006), the Chairman made the following statement on behalf of the Working Group.
