Division for the Advancement of Women received no replies from Governments and that the Centre for Human Rights received only a small number of replies from Governments, which the Working Group appreciated. The Working Group noted the usefulness of the replies received and the clarifications given.
The Working Group noted that there were replies from Governments to 5 of the 18 communications received directly by the Division for the Advancement of Women, including a note stating that a full reply was pending, and replies to 10 of the 11 communications transmitted by OHCHR.
This group includes reports of subsidiary organs and of special rapporteurs, reports in which replies from Governments are compiled and other documents whose length, in a strict sense, cannot be controlled by the Secretariat, such as agendas, notes transmitting biographical information of candidates for elections, programmes of work and similar documents;
At the time of writing, the backlog of information to be processed prior to its consideration by the Working Group concerns over 8,330 cases, of which 2,960 comprise reports of disappearances; some 5,170 represent replies from Governments, and over 200 are observations submitted by the sources.
It should be noted that the summaries included below reflect urgent appeals, in accordance with the above-mentioned resolution, and replies from Governments only to the extent that they have been included in the latest report of the Special Rapporteur to the Commission on Human Rights which contains information up to 25 November 1994.
At the time of writing, the existing backlog of information that must be processed prior to its consideration by the Working Group relates to over 15,750 cases, of which some 3,000 comprise reports of disappearances; approximately 12,550 represent replies from Governments to outstanding cases, and over 200 are observations submitted by the sources.
(b) Category B: major policy documents, such as the proposed programme budget and reports not originating in the Secretariat. This group includes reports of subsidiary organs and of special rapporteurs, reports in which replies from Governments are compiled and other documents whose length, in a strict sense, cannot be controlled by the Secretariat, such as agendas, notes transmitting biographical information of candidates for elections, programmes of work and similar documents;
will be considered by the Commission and give them at least twelve weeks before the consideration of such communications by the Working Group, and(ii) to ensure that the members of the Working Group receive in advance the lists of communications, including replies from Governments, if any, to be taken into account in preparing its report for examination by the Commission;
On 23 April 2009, the Working Group received the reply from Government, which consists of three parties.
Unfortunately, when he had prepared the report, he had not yet received any reply from Governments to the questionnaire which was sent to them in September 1999 on their practice in respect of unilateral acts, although some of them had replied since.
