The Committee was provided, upon request, with the following update summary of requests for exceptions to the standards of accommodation for air travel for the period from 1 July 1991 to 30 June 1994.
Sect. I containing requests for exceptions to section I, paragraph 7, of General Assembly resolution 40/243, by which the Assembly decided that no subsidiary organ of the Assembly might meet at United Nations Headquarters during a regular session of the Assembly unless explicitly authorized by the Assembly.
Mr. Hussain(Pakistan), speaking on behalf of the Group of 77 and China, said that the Group agreed that the Secretary-General should be accorded discretion with regard to standards of accommodation for air travel; it also supported the Advisory Committee ' s view that all requests for exceptions must be carefully scrutinized.
The Committee on Conferences had considered requests for exceptions to General Assembly resolution 40/243, part I, paragraph 7, in which the Assembly had decided that no subsidiary organ of the General Assembly might meet at United Nations Headquarters during a regular session of the Assembly unless explicitly authorized by the Assembly.
At its 506th meeting, on 30 August 2010, the Committee on Conferences considered the sections of the report of the Secretary-General on the pattern of conferences(A/65/122, sect. II.A.1 and annex I) containing requests for exceptions to section I, paragraph 7, of General Assembly resolution 40/243, by which the Assembly had decided that no subsidiary organ of the Assembly might meet at United Nations Headquarters during a regular session of the Assembly unless explicitly authorized by the Assembly.
At its 512th meeting, on 6 September 2011, the Committee on Conferences considered the sections of the report of the Secretary-General on the pattern of conferences(see A/66/118, sect. I.A. 1, and supplementary information, sect. I) containing requests for exceptions to section I, paragraph 7, of General Assembly resolution 40/243, by which the Assembly decided that no subsidiary organ of the Assembly may meet at United Nations Headquarters during a regular session of the Assembly unless explicitly authorized by the Assembly.
At its 524th meeting, on 3 September 2013, the Committee on Conferences considered the sections of the report of the Secretary-General on the pattern of conferences(see A/68/122, sect. I) containing requests for exceptions to section I, paragraph 7, of General Assembly resolution 40/243, by which the Assembly decided that no subsidiary organ of the Assembly might meet at United Nations Headquarters during a regular session of the Assembly unless explicitly authorized by the Assembly.
At its 531st meeting, on 2 September 2014, the Committee on Conferences considered the sections of the report of the Secretary-General on the pattern of conferences(see A/69/120, sect. II.A.1, and supplementary information, sect. I) containing requests for exceptions to section I, paragraph 7, of General Assembly resolution 40/243, by which the Assembly decided that no subsidiary organ of the Assembly might meet at United Nations Headquarters during a regular session of the Assembly unless explicitly authorized by the Assembly.
In each case, in accordance with resolution 1683(2006), the request for exception was submitted by both the Government of Liberia and the Government of the exporting State.
