In its resolution 53/16, the Commission requested the Executive Director of UNODC to prepare and submit to the Commission, on a biennial basis and on the basis of the responses provided by Member States to the annual report questionnaire, a single report on action taken to implement the Political Declaration and Plan of Action, the first of which was to be examined by the Commission at its fifty-fifth session, in 2012.

وطلبت اللجنة، في قرارها 53/16، إلى المدير التنفيذي لمكتب الأمم المتحدة المعني بالمخدِّرات والجريمة أن يعدَّ كل عامين تقريراً منفرداً عن الإجراءات المتَّخذة لتنفيذ الإعلان السياسي وخطة العمل، استناداً إلى الردود المقدَّمة من الدول الأعضاء في إطار الاستبيان الخاص بالتقارير السنوية، وأن يقدِّمه إلى اللجنة التي كان من المزمع أن تنظر في التقرير الأوَّل من تلك التقارير في دورتها الخامسة والخمسين، في عام 2012

I also wish to stress the need to implement the political declaration issued at the recent high-level meeting of the General Assembly on Africa ' s development needs as well as the proposals put forward by the leaders at the high-level event on the Millennium Development Goals. Those proposals aim at increasing financing for Africa and to give it special consideration during the Follow-up International Conference on Financing for Development to Review the Implementation of the Monterrey Consensus.
