پھر ہم نے حکم دیا کہ اس(مُردہ) پر اس(گائے) کا ایک ٹکڑا مارو، اسی طرح اللہ مُردوں کو زندہ فرماتا ہے(یا قیامت کے دن مُردوں کو زندہ کرے گا) اور تمہیں اپنی نشانیاں دکھاتا ہے تاکہ تم عقل و شعور سے کام لو

And(it was said unto him): Take in thine hand a branch and smite therewith, and break not thine oath. Lo! We found him steadfast, how excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance(to his Lord).
اور اپنے ہاتھ میں جھاڑو لو اور اس سے مارو اور قسم نہ توڑو۔ بےشک ہم نے ان کو ثابت قدم پایا۔ بہت خوب بندے تھے بےشک وہ رجوع کرنے والے تھے

And stay ye not, but pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities:
پر تم نہ رکو۔تم اپنے دشمنوں کا پیچھا کر و اور ان میں کے جو جو بچھڑ گئے ہیں ان کو مار ڈالو۔ان کو مہلت نہ دو کہ اوہ اپنے اپنے شہر میں داخل

Remember thy Lord inspired the angels(with the message):"I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them.".
اس وقت کو یاد کرو جب کہ آپ کا رب فرشتوں کو حکم دیتا تھا کہ میں تمہارا ساتھی ہوں سو تم ایمان والوں کی ہمت بڑھاؤ میں ابھی کفار کے قلوب میں رعب ڈالے دیتا ہوں، سو تم گردنوں پر مارو اور ان کے پور پور کو مارو

When thy Lord inspired the angels,(saying): I am with you. So make those who believe stand firm. I will throw fear into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Then smite the necks and smite of them each finger.
اور وہ وقت جبکہ تمہارا رب فرشتوں کو اشارہ کر رہا تھا کہ“میں تمہارے ساتھ ہوں، تم اہلِ ایمان کو ثابت قدم رکھو، میں ابھی ان کافروں کے دلوں میں رُعب ڈالے دیتا ہوں، پس تم ان کی گردنوں پر ضرب اور جوڑ جوڑ پر چوٹ لگاؤ

So We said,'Smite him with part of it'; even so God brings to life the dead,
تو ہم نے کہا کہ اس بیل کا کوئی سا ٹکڑا مقتول کو مارو۔ اس طرح خدا مردوں کو زندہ کرتا ہے

I will instil terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks
کافروں کی گردنوں سے اوپر مارو اور ان کی ایک ایک پور(جوڑ)

And the Lord said to the angels:"I am with you; go and strengthen the faithful. I shall fill the hearts of infidels with terror. So smite them on their necks and every joint,(and incapacitate them),".
اور وہ وقت جبکہ تمہارا رب فرشتوں کو اشارہ کر رہا تھا کہ“میں تمہارے ساتھ ہوں، تم اہلِ ایمان کو ثابت قدم رکھو، میں ابھی ان کافروں کے دلوں میں رُعب ڈالے دیتا ہوں، پس تم ان کی گردنوں پر ضرب اور جوڑ جوڑ پر چوٹ لگاؤ

اس وقت کو یاد کرو جب کہ آپ کا رب فرشتوں کو حکم دیتا تھا کہ میں تمہارا ساتھی ہوں سو تم ایمان والوں کی ہمت بڑھاؤ میں ابھی کفار کے قلوب میں رعب ڈالے دیتا ہوں، سو تم گردنوں پر مارو اور ان کے پور پور کو مارو

کسی قوم تک ناواقفیت میں پہنچ جاؤ اور اس کے بعد اپنے اقدام پر شرمندہ ہونا پڑے

آپ دیکھیں گے کہ جن کے دلوں میں بیماری ہے(١) وہ دوڑ دوڑ کر ان میں گھس رہے ہیں اور کہتے ہیں کہ ہمیں خطرہ ہے، ایسا نہ ہو کہ کوئی حادثہ ہم پر پڑ جائے(٢
