Against this background, the project aims, in a pilot stage, to facilitate the rehabilitation of selected communities in Abyei district with a view to creating conditions conducive to the return of Dinka households from north Sudan and to provide support to their return to sustainable livelihoods as well as peaceful relations with the Missereya.

Confirmed reports of continuing human rights abuses have created a climate of deep apprehension that is not conducive to the return of those who wish to do so.
