By paragraph 11 of its decision VIII/16 on technical guidelines on persistent organic pollutants, the Conference of the Parties to the Basel Convention welcomed the fact that the bodies of the Stockholm Convention were considering best available techniques and best environmental practices with respect to unintentionally produced persistent organic pollutants, including the more recent technologies for destruction and irreversible transformation listed in the general technical guidelines, and invited experts of the Basel Convention to contribute to that work.
