You can get around this area by train but it is convenient to have a car for sightseeing trips. From major cities, you can get to Echizen Ono Station, one of the areas nearest stations, by plane or train. From Tokyo's Haneda Airport, you can fly to Komatsu Airport, take an express bus to Fukui Station, and take the JR Echimi Hoku line for Echizen Ono Station. It takes about 3 hours and 15 minutes.
