I would prefer to be labeled a realist, someone who sees things as they are, who has a healthy respect for good data and solid analysis(or at least credible theory).
The realist, if he is an artist, will endeavor not to show us a commonplace photograph of life, but to give us a presentment of it which shall be more complete, more striking, more cogent than reality itself.
But Isaac Rabin was a realist who had understood(like the Americans in Vietnam and the French in Algeria) that there could be no definitive military solution when an Army clashes not just with another army but with an entire people.
