Turning to the issue of the replenishment of the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol, she said that the Panel had been requested to supplement the information it had provided on the matter to the Open-ended Working Group at its thirty-fourth meeting.

(i) The phase-down of the consumption and production of the hydrofluorocarbons listed in the annex to the present decision and hydrofluorocarbon-23 by-product emissions control requirements shall be eligible for funding under the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol, unless they are being funded from other sources.

In that decision, the Meeting of the Parties also called on the Executive Committee of the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol to examine options which might assist potential related cases of non-compliance and consider appropriate regional workshops to create awareness and educate stakeholders on alternatives to CFC-based metereddose inhalers.

Reiterate the need to help provide support for the implementation of chemicals-related multilateral environmental agreements to developing countries and countries with economies in transition, for the Montreal Protocol including through an adequate replenishment of the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol and the Global Environment Facility and enhanced cooperation between these funds;

Recalling item 10 of the agenda of the sixty-ninth meeting of the Executive Committee of the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol on the report on the Multilateral Fund climate impact indicator(decisions 59/45, 62/62, 63/62, 64/51, 65/48, 66/53 and 67/32).

He described some of Burkina Faso ' s efforts and actions, in cooperation with UNEP and other implementing agencies, for the implementation of the Montreal Protocol and the protection of the ozone layer, and stressed that such efforts needed to be continued and extended to the informal sector, which was of importance in respect of refrigeration and air-conditioning.

For the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, income fell by $20 million, from $314 million in the biennium 2002-2003 to $294 million in the biennium 2004-2005, which explained its insufficiency to cover increases in the United Nations Environment Programme staff costs and other expenses.

وأما بالنسبة للصندوق المتعدد الأطراف لتنفيذ بروتوكول مونتريال المتعلق بالمواد المستنفدة لطبقة الأوزون، فقد انخفضت إيراداته بمقدار 20 مليون دولار، من 314 مليون دولار في الفترة 2002-2003 إلى 294 في فترة السنتين 2004-2005، وهو ما يفسر عدم كفاية الصندوق لتغطية الزيادات في تكاليف موظفي برنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة ونفقاته الأخرى

To note also that reporting by 30 June each year greatly facilitates the work of the Executive Committee of the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol in assisting Parties operating under paragraph 1 of Article 5 of the Protocol to comply with the Protocol ' s control measures;

To support the idea the Panel cites a project approved by the Executive Committee of the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol for a Colombian company, Quimpac S.A.(formerly known as Prodesal S.A.), through which the firm was able to replace carbon tetrachloride with chloroform, a non-ozone-depleting substance.

The Working Group is expected to consider the draft decision introduced by Switzerland at the thirty-second meeting of the Open-ended Working Group and the Twenty-Fourth Meeting of the Parties on additional funding for the implementation of the Montreal Protocol to maximize the climate benefit of the accelerated phaseout of hydrochlorofluorocarbons(HCFCs).
