The Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance, Githu Muigai, the Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief, Asma Jahangir, and the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, Frank La Rue, issued a joint statement in Geneva on 22 April 2009 identifying challenges with regard to the dissemination of expressions which offend certain believers(see A/HRC/12/38, paras. 33-42).
