At its twenty-fourth, twenty-sixth and twenty-ninth sessions, the Committee held meetings with United Nations agencies and bodies as well as non-governmental organizations to discuss their cooperation in the promotion and implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

At the 15th meeting, on 27 March 2001, the ChairpersonRapporteur of the Openended working group established to monitor and review progress made in the promotion and implementation of the right to development, Mr. Mohamed-Salah Dembri, introduced the report of the working group on its first and second sessions(E/CN.4/2001/26).

Requests once again the Openended working group established to monitor and review progress made in the promotion and implementation of the right to development, which will meet after the fiftyeighth session of the Commission on Human Rights, to give due consideration to the question of human rights and the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures;

We welcome the positive contribution of non-governmental organizations, civil society and the private sector in the promotion and implementation of development, security and human rights programmes, and stress the importance of their continued engagement with Governments, the United Nations and other international organizations in these key areas.

نحن نرحب بالمساهمة الإيجابية من جانب المنظمات غير الحكومية والمجتمع المدني والقطاع الخاص في تشجيع وتنفيذ برامج التنمية والأمن وحقوق الإنسان، ونشدد على أهمية استمرار مشاركتها مع الحكومات والأمم المتحدة والمنظمات الدولية الأخرى في هذه المجالات الرئيسية

The Committee recommends that the State party encourage the active and systematic involvement of civil society actors, including NGOs, in the promotion and implementation of children ' s rights, in particular in rural areas, including by increasing their participation in the follow-up to the concluding observations of the Committee.

(a) To monitor and review progress made in the promotion and implementation of the right to development as elaborated in the Declaration on the Right to Development, at the national and international levels, providing recommendations thereon and further analysing obstacles to its full enjoyment, focusing each year on specific commitments in the Declaration;

In particular, they welcomed the positive contributions of the private sector and civil society, including non-governmental organizations(NGOs), in the promotion and implementation of development and human rights programmes and stressed the importance of their continued engagement with Governments, the United Nations and other international organizations in those key areas(para. 172).

Also at the 16th meeting, the Chairperson-Rapporteur of the Openended working group established to monitor and review progress made in the promotion and implementation of the right to development, Mr. Bonaventure Bowa, introduced the report of the Working Group on its fourth session(E/CN.4/2003/26 and Corr.1).

The Committee recommends that the State party encourage the active and systematic involvement of civil society, including NGOs and associations of children, in the promotion and implementation of children ' s rights, including inter alia, their participation in the planning stage of policies and cooperation projects, as well as in the follow-up to the concluding observations of the Committee and the preparation of the next periodic report.

The current open-ended working group established to monitor and review progress made in the promotion and implementation of the right to development was set up in 1998 along with an expert mechanism the independent expert(1998-2003) later replaced by a high-level task force on the implementation of the right to development(2004-2010) composed of five independent experts from five geographical regions.
