As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance its working methods, and in particular to achieve timely consideration of States parties ' reports as soon as possible after they are submitted, the Committee will consider, at its thirtieth session, the option of holding meetings in parallel working groups for the consideration of periodic reports submitted under article 18 of the Convention.

In the light of resolution 60/230, in which the General Assembly extended the Committee ' s meeting time and authorized it to hold three annual sessions of three weeks each in 2006 and 2007, as well as to meet in parallel working groups during its third annual session in 2006 and its first and third annual sessions in 2007, the number of reports submitted by States parties that await consideration has been significantly reduced.

Does the current organization of work through plenary sessions allow for this focus or should parallel working groups be contemplated? Are modern techniques and professional moderation being employed to focus the discussions?
