The increased costs under the revised scale of pensionable remuneration have been estimated at Euro52,000 for the remainder of 2011 and at about Euro177,500 for the biennium 2012-2013, including Euro147,500 under the UNIDO regular budget and Euro30,000 under the UNIDO operational budget.
Amends, with effect from 1 January 1997, article 54(b) of the Regulations of the Fund, as set out in annex I to the present resolution, to incorporate the revised scale of pensionable remuneration of staff in the Professional and higher categories, using the approved common staff assessment scale; .
It also noted with satisfaction that the revised scale of pensionable remuneration promulgated by ICSC had been included in appendix C to the UNIDO Staff Rules, and that the interim adjustment of the salary scales for General Service staff had been implemented with effect from 1 April 2004.

This incorporates an adjustment of $1.8 million relating to the revised scale of pensionable remuneration, the cost of approved support staff in the field, General Service staff in Geneva and the one-time requirement to cover commutation of annual leave and repatriation grants relating to staff not moving to Bonn and separating.

The Commission recalled that in 1996 it had recommended to the General Assembly a revised scale of staff assessment to be used in conjunction with gross base salaries of the Professional and higher categories of staff in recognition of the need to maintain an appropriate balance between staff assessment revenues and the related disbursements for taxes paid by staff using the system of the Tax Equalization Fund.
The Advisory Committee was also informed that the pensionable remuneration of staff in the Professional category and above was revised effective 1 January 1997 to reflect the revised salary scale for staff in the Professional category and above effective 1 January 1997 as well as the revised scale of staff assessment approved by the General Assembly in section III of its resolution 51/216.
Revised scales of assessment would further serve as a visible way to manage change.
