On 31 March 2006, UNIS Geneva issued a statement from the Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances calling for approval of the draft convention by the General Assembly at its next session.
A delegation from the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention visited the Islamic Republic of Mauritania from 19 February to 3 March 2008 at the invitation of the Mauritanian Government.

This was one of the few changes made to the text of the draft declaration as it moved from the Working Group to the General Assembly, and it is this that interests us.
