The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean provided technical assistance to the national statistical institutes of Colombia, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Peru and Uruguay to generate gender statistics, including an assessment on preparations of time-use surveys to measure unpaid work.
Regulation(EC) No. 223/2009 provides the legal framework for the production of European statistics and identifies Eurostat as the statistical authority of the EU in cooperation with national statistical institutes in all Member States in a European Statistical System(ESS).

Concerning coordination, harmonization and development of statistical data, the 1997 plenary session of the ECE Conference of European Statisticians further strengthened the coordination of statistical activities throughout the region and beyond, mainly through the Integrated Presentation of Programme of Work of about 25 international statistical institutes active in the region including the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development(OECD), Eurostat and all the major global organizations, and the streamlining of statistical data collection.
To this end, the Bank is actively supporting interagency efforts(with the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, UNDP and the World Bank) to improve the monitoring of the progress in achieving the Goals, including capacity-building of census bureaux and statistical institutes, as well as reinforcing its important MECOVI programme designed to improve household surveys on living conditions in the region.
