the Committee also adopted suggestion No. 5, which proposes that the Commission on the Status of Women request the Secretary-General of the United Nations to convene an expert group meeting to prepare a draft optional protocol to the Convention, as recommended by the World Conference on Human Rights.

At the 39th meeting, on the same day, the ChairpersonRapporteur of the Openended inter-sessional working group on a draft optional protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflicts, Ms. Catherine von Heidenstam, introduced the report of the working group on its sixth session(E/CN.4/2000/74).

يقرر أن تقوم لجنة مركز المرأة، في دورتها اﻷربعين، بإنشاء فريق عامل مفتوح باب العضوية ينعقد لمدة اسبوعين أثناء الدورة، للنظر في التقرير المطلوب في الفقرة ٦ أعﻻه بغية صياغة مشروع بروتوكول اختياري ﻻتفاقية القضاء على جميع أشكال التمييز ضد المرأة

Decides that the Commission should establish an in-session open-ended working group for a two-week period at its fortieth session to consider the report requested in paragraph 6 above with a view to elaborating a draft optional protocol to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women;
