THE JOINT STATEMENT ISSUED in Arabic translation

In a letter dated 14 July 1999 addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of Argentina, the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs of the United Kingdom stated that the formula on sovereignty in paragraph 2 of the joint statement issued at Madrid on 19 October 1989 applied to the joint statement of 14 July 1999 and he recorded the understanding between the two Governments on its detailed implementation.

وفي رسالة مؤرخة 14 تموز/يوليه 1999، موجهة إلى وزير الخارجية والتجارة الدولية وشؤون العبادة بالأرجنتين، صرح وزير الخارجية وشؤون الكمنولث بالمملكة المتحدة بأن الصيغة المتعلقة بالسيادة الواردة في الفقرة 2 من البيان المشترك الصادر في مدريد يوم 19 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 1989 تنطبق على البيان المشترك الصادر في 14 تموز/يوليه 1999. وسُجِّل التفاهم بين الحكومتين على التنفيذ التفصيلي له

In a joint press statement issued at the end of the meeting, the British and Argentine delegations agreed that the formula on sovereignty over the Falkland Islands(Malvinas), South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands and the surrounding maritime areas, contained in paragraph 2 of the joint statement issued in Madrid on 19 October 1989, applied to the meeting and its consequences.
