At the same meeting, the General Assembly decided to reopen consideration of agenda item 19 entitled" Follow-up to and implementation of the outcome of the 2002 International Conference on Financing for Development and the 2008 Review Conference", under heading A(Promotion of sustained economic growth and sustainable development in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the General Assembly and recent United Nations conferences), and to proceed expeditiously with the consideration of a draft resolution.

The present report, submitted in compliance with General Assembly resolution 58/203 of 23 December 2003, complements the report of the Secretary-General on the follow-up to and implementation of the outcome of the International Conference on Financing for Development(A/59/270). By resolution 2001/41, the Council called upon the Secretary-General, in future reports to the General Assembly on the follow-up to and implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, to assess progress made on mainstreaming a gender perspective within the United Nations system, including by providing information on key achievements, lessons learned and best practices, and to recommend further actions and strategies for future action within the United Nations system.
